about me
Dear students and parents,
Welcome to our fifth grade class for the 2017-18 school year! I am so thrilled to meet you all and begin our fabulous year together!
Let me tell you a little about myself. I was raised outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a small farming town called Spring City. I moved to Virginia Beach about a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Virginian, spending a lot of time outdoors with my pup, Fitz! I attended Lehigh University, also in Pennsylvania, for both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees, majoring in social psychology and elementary education. I am currently working on my gifted endorsement and am thrilled to begin my second year of teaching in Hampton City Schools.
My priority within my classroom is students' interests, academics, and engagement. I uphold very high expectations both academically and behaviorally for the students so that our classroom community is a welcoming and safe environment. This year the fifth grade team has many activities and projects planned to make connections with the real world and give our learning a true meaning for the students. I am very much looking forward to his coming school year and getting to know each of you!
Kindly,
Miss Mitchell
